Patrick FitzGerald

Raleigh, North Carolina

Patrick FitzGerald creates drawings, first in sketchbooks, and later composed digital that challenge and examine issues of uniqueness and duplication. He captures people around him, at home and while traveling, and they places they inhabit, both real and imagined.  As he composes the images, the relationships are consciously ambiguous; in a way, Patrick collaborates with the viewer, as they supply the rest of the story.

Patrick is an associate professor of Art + Design at North Carolina State University's College of Design, and is the lead researcher for the Advanced Media Lab.  He also creates interactive installations as part of the EAT Collaborative, whose work has been exhibited at the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Mint Museum.  He received a Masters of Fine Arts from Cranbrook.
